Juan Almagro - Laboratory & Research Sec. Manager - ACERINOX

At ACERINOX EUROPA he is head of R&D and control laboratories. He also coordinates the R&D activity of ACERINOX Group globally. He is a graduate from the UCA and PhD from the UCM. His entire career has been spent at ACERINOX, S.A., now ACERINOX EUROPA, S.A.U., always related the R&D Area, since he joined the company in 1987.

Responsible for more than 30 national and European research projects. This has allowed him to interact closely with the main players in Spanish and European steel innovation.

As a result of this research work, in collaboration with Universities and Research Centres, he is co-author of more than 100 articles and communications to scientific conferences, obtaining 3 patents, 1 of them European.

He is an associate lecturer at the universities of Cadiz and Seville where he regularly contributes to their master’s and PhD programmes.

He is a member of the European Microbeam Analysis Society, EMAS, of the Spanish Microscopy Society, SME, and of the Spanish Steel Platform, PLATEA, and of the Innovation Committee of UNESID since 2010.
