Leyre Madariaga - Director of Digital Transformation and Entrepreneurship - BASQUE GOVERNMENT

A graduate in economics and business studies from the Commercial University of Deusto, she also holds a master’s in European studies from the Catholic University of Leuven (Belgium). Much of her career has been focused on international relations, especially in the commercialisation of services, especially those with a significant technological component. Moreover, she has in-depth knowledge of trade policy instruments and relations with international organisations. She has also been a frequent speaker at seminars and conferences on the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs.

Her career has combined private and public experience. She started her career in the engineering and consultancy company IDOM, becoming responsible for multilateral projects and Director of its office in Romania. From 2005 to 2009 she was Deputy Director General of SPRI, the Basque Country Development Agency. In 2010 she began her career as the Director of International Expansion at TECNALIA, the first technology centre in Spain and fifth in Europe. In 2013 she became Director of External Relations in the President’s Office of the Basque Government. She is currently Director of Digital Transformation and Entrepreneurship in the Department of Economic Development, Sustainability and Environment.

She is fluent in Spanish, Basque, English and French and has knowledge of German and Italian.
