Irantzu Calvo Santamaría

A professional with a solid academic background in physics and astrophysics. She obtained a PhD in astrophysics from the University of La Laguna, as well as a master’s degree in astrophysics. She worked as a predoctoral researcher at the Canary Islands Astrophysics Institute and as a postdoctoral researcher at KU Leuven University in Belgium.

She is currently a lecturer and researcher at Mondragon University, where she teaches courses in areas such as analytics and data science and where she also coordinates the master’s degree in data analysis for business intelligence / business analytics. She has participated in several research projects in collaboration with other institutions and has received recognition for her academic work, such as the FPI grant from the Ministry of Education and the pre-doctoral mobility grant from the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness.

She has also published several scientific articles in specialist journals and has presented papers at national and international conferences, seminars and workshops. Besides her research experience, she has taught courses in areas such as physics, statistics and programming. She has participated in R&D projects funded in competitive tenders by public or private bodies.
